A commission was given to render
a sculptural memorial for a famous artist.
The following images are representations
of how one might depict
a non-existent, 3D model in a real life photo.
The sculpture begins with a solid block of granite. Concentric rings emanate
from the center - representing the course of one year in time. The over all,
initial mass represents all that came before Rodin.
It is at the center of this top ring where we begin to chronologically represent
the life of Rodin thru mass and the absence of it.
Moments in Rodin's life are represented on this
timeline
above, beginning with his
birth and ending with his
death. White=Positive
moments his life, while Red=Negative
ones. Spheres of appropriate sizes were placed along the concentric rings -
there place in space is the testimony of a life.
The spheres representing
the negative moments were
subtracted from the whole -
leaving voids in his life
, while the positive spheres were left whole.
The massivly pregnant, center
sphere represents the birth of Rodin.
